Description
Provides and ensures high-quality service to patients, visitors, Radiologists and medical staff by performing mammography services by integrating medical knowledge and technical skills. Participates in the success of the Breast, MRI Center and Mammography Department, upholding the Mission and Vision of Oregon Imaging Centers.
Essential Functions:
1. Performs and/or assists with mammography and prepares images for interpretation by a Radiologist, including annotation, labeling, validating quality and coding in a timely manner, according to approved department procedures.
2. Assists Radiologist in biopsy procedures.
3. Review’s images for positioning, technique, identification and validates quality, including documentation for Radiologist, in a timely manner.
4. Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined, while maintaining exam quality. Recognizes opportunities to enhance image quality producing high-quality exams.
5. Demonstrates correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills.
6. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of physics and computer science related to mammography
7. Selects appropriate scanning technique/equipment and determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions.
8. Adheres to pre-set OIC exam protocols. Recognizes opportunities to enhance image quality producing high-quality exams.
9. Practices techniques and applies appropriate devices as required for safety. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self-according to prescribed safety standards.
10. Maintains steady workflow, ensuring a complete, accurate and timely work product
11. Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code and proceeds and administers aid as needed. Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patients and instruments.
12. Continuously assesses and improves the quality of care and services provided. Provide adequate patient care with little supervision. Maintains quality control programs as required.
13. Verifies patient identification and procedures. Reviews patient questionnaire and request for physician notes and/or special instructions.
14. Demonstrates complete working knowledge of Mammography equipment.
15. Assists in training and guidance of radiology students or others.
16. Performs multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast -paced medical environment, with caring and compassion. Demonstrates complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies.
17. Seeks Radiologist guidance and follows as required.
18. Assists OIC scheduling/reception departments in proper exam scheduling and patient handling in an effort to reduce reschedules or callbacks.
19. Comply with OIC’s policies and procedures, adhere to the OIC Code of Conduct, complete required compliance training modules, and report any observations of non-compliance.
20. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Completion of a certified Radiologic Technology program.
- Experience/Training: Minimum of one-year previous experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development, and life stages to meet each patient’s need.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Radiologic Technologist licensed in the State of Oregon required (OBMI)
- ARRT (R) Credentialed required
- ARRT (M) Certification required within 12 months of hire
- CPR certified
- Special Skills Required:
Basic computer skills, including keyboarding, MS Outlook, MS Word. Ability to hear, read, comprehend, analyze and interpret medical data, reports, and legal documents. - Interpersonal Behavior:
Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Must have the ability to interact well with patients, public, co-workers and all patient care personnel. Must be able to work responsibly and to maintain confidentiality. Must be dependable. - Physical Abilities:
